Lonsdale London

Mythical English brand of boxing and sports equipment founded in 1960 by the professional boxer Bernard Hart and named in honor of Lonsdale of James Lowther, Earl of Lonsdale, who organized the first boxing matches with gloves, after the death of several boxers in fights without gloves.

Very popular and used even by Paul Weller, leader of the group The Jam on their tour of Japan.

In the early 2000s, it became popular among neo-Nazi groups, since leaving the jacket open above, it showed the letters NSDA, one letter less than NSDP of the German Nazi party. Since in many countries the exhibition of Nazi symbology is prohibited.

Lonsdale London reacted by campaigning and sponsoring anti-racist events as well as making several designs of Lonsdale London against racism, to make clear its anti-racist stance and that it has nothing to do with Nazi groups.

Great wrestlers like Muhammad Ali, Lennox Lewis, Henry Cooper, Sugar Ray Robinson, Joe Calzaghe, Carl Froch... have fought with the Lonsdale London brand.
